Cause & Divine Significance of Ekadashi

Ekadashi is one of the most sacred and spiritually transformative observances in Sanatan Dharma. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this auspicious tithi is observed twice every lunar month and is revered as a day of purification, devotion, self-discipline and divine blessings. According to Padma Purana, Vishnu Purana and various Vedic scriptures, Ekadashi helps devotees overcome negative karmic influences, purify the mind, strengthen spiritual consciousness and receive the blessings of Bhagwan Vishnu and Maa Lakshmi.

At Krishnayan, located on the sacred banks of Maa Ganga in Haridwar amidst Gaumata, saints and Vedic traditions, devotees can transform their Ekadashi vrat into a complete spiritual experience through Gau Seva, Annadaan, Pooja, Yagya, Gaudaan and other sacred acts of Dharma.

Most Important: Why Celebrate Ekadashi at Krishnayan

Observing a fast is only one aspect of Ekadashi. Scriptures repeatedly emphasize that the spiritual merit of Ekadashi multiplies when accompanied by Seva, Daan, Compassion and Dharma. At Krishnayan, devotees not only observe Ekadashi but also participate in Gau Seva, Annadaan, Vishnu Poojan, Saint Seva and Vedic rituals performed under the guidance of learned Acharyas and priests in the divine atmosphere of Maa Ganga and Gaumata.

Whether it is for family wellbeing, career growth, education, health, prosperity, ancestral blessings, birthdays, anniversaries or personal sankalps, Ekadashi becomes an opportunity to receive divine grace through meaningful action.

About us

Shree Krishnayan Desi Gauraksha Evam Gaulok Dham Sewa Samitiโ€™ is one of the largest Gaurakshashala of Desi cows in India. We protect, feed & shelter ailing, starving, destitute and stray Desi Cows & Bulls, the majority of which are abandoned by their owners or saved from butchers. Most of these Gauvansh are milk barren. These cows are brought to our Gaushala from tough conditions. All these cows are fed, sheltered, and looked after by hundreds of Gausewaks who work round the clock. This Gaushala is run and managed by saints. We do not exploit these cows for milk but distribute it free to saints / tapaswis / Gausewaks / Ashrams.

We started with just 11 cows in the year 2010 in Haridwar, and presently we shelter and feed more than 35000 cows & Bulls in various locations all put together. This number is ever-increasing as stray Desi Cows & Bulls mostly deserted by their owner are brought to our Gaurakshashala every day.
